Labour Wage Rates

In the construction industry, workers were usually paid daily, hence the term wage rates. All trade except for electrical wireman PW2 and PW4, were paid based on the daily rates. The wage rates were published twice a year and produces the Building Labour Cost Index (BLCI). There were 2 types of labour wage rates, specifically the semi-skilled and skilled workers. The 3 main groups of labours were:

  1. Construction Workers (20 types)
  2. Plant and Machinery Operators (15 types)
  3. IBS Installers (6 types)

Each of the workers display the wage rates according to:

  • Minimum (Lowest);
  • Maximum (Highest); and
  • Common wage rates (Most usual).
